Hey -
So Glad You're Here
Erica Zacharias Disability Advocate

But for the record… (and so my grandchildren never wonder)

I am a settler descendent of Ukrainian, Swedish, Norwegian, and German descent.

The Art of Taking Up Space is rooted in disability justice, anti-racism, and respect for Indigenous, Black, queer, trans, disabled, and other marginalized communities.

Some of these spaces I know nothing about. I am educating myself. If and when I say something harmful, I will apologize.

If you find yourself in a place at some of these intersections, and would like to share your journey with me, please reach out.

Black Lives Matter

I support 🌈 2SLGBTQI+ and Truth and Reconciliation calls to action (as of 2024, only 5 of the 94 are fullfilled)

Free Palestine 🇵🇸 | Free Ukraine 🇺🇦 | Free Congo 🇨🇩 | Free Sudan 🇸🇸

Life has bumped me through some hard seasons.

Both glad and surprised to be through the worst of them.

Nurse, doula, university student, mom, public speaker, and disability advocate, currently living on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation, in the Canadian city we now know as Ottawa, I’m just trying to figure out how to make changes to the systems so that it’s a little easier for everybody.

If you have any ideas - drop me a line - would love to hear from you.

I hope you find this a place where every person has inherent dignity and worth.

Without explanation.

- Erica Zacharias
